  1. Add three to five drops to 230 ml of water for a refreshing beverage. I started with just two as it is quite potent and gradually built up to five drops each time and have now dropped back to three.
  2. Add it to your chilled water bottle to sip on during the day to keep you hydrated and reduce your appetite and food cravings. 
  3. Combine with honey and warm water to create an invigorating herbal tea.
  4. Add to a smoothie to make you feel full longer. 
  5. If you wish, drink some Smart & Sassy oil in water before meals in order to reduce the likelihood of overeating and to help control your appetite.
  6. Drink before you go for your walk or a work out to give yourself a revitalising boost and motivate you for a successful workout.

The main chemical component of Lavender, linalool, is known for its ability to reduce sad and anxious feelings, which makes Lavender oil  wonderful for calming the mind, such as reducing racing thoughts, anxiousness and sleep disruption. Reducing your stress in this way will help you lose weight by controlling emotional eating and keeping your cortisol levels in check. 

  1. Diffuse to reduce stress, improve sleep and combat teeth grinding. 
  2. Add a few drops to a bath with epsom salts. 
  3. Add a few drops to pillows, bedding, or bottoms of feet at bedtime to promote a restful sleep.
  4. Keep a bottle on hand to soothe occasional skin irritations, such as taking the itch out of mosquito bites or reducing bruising. 
  5. Put some under your nose, leave the bottle open by your side or diffuse to relieve seasonal allergies and hayfever. 


Gingerols have been scientifically proven to reduce disease-causing inflammation in your intestines and overall improve absorption of the vitamins and minerals you’re consuming. If you’re absorbing more vitamins and minerals, then you’re helping to support your body’s cellular energy and create weight loss. Don’t use ginger essential oil if you are on medications for diabetes because it may lower your blood sugar level.


In aromatherapy, Ginger essential oil is known to bring on feelings of courageousness and self-assurance, which is why it’s known as “the oil of empowerment.”  It infuses individuals with personal responsibility and choice. 


For antioxidant benefits, add one drop to your morning smoothies.


Cinnamon is gaining a reputation for being a fat-burning food and a valuable tool for weight loss. It has been shown to have positive effects on insulin release, which means it can help keep blood sugar stable and prevent chronic fatigue, moodiness, sugar cravings and overeating. 


Cinnamaldehyde may help fat cells to burn energy. Cinnamon oil can help prevent the fatigue and moodiness that get in the way of practicing healthy habits and that sabotage weight loss efforts. 

  1. Put two drops in a veggie capsule to maintain a healthy immune system and support healthy metabolic function
  2. Dilute with Fractionated Coconut Oil massage sore and tender areas.
  3. Use as a sweet and spicy flavour with apple, eg vegan apple cake or apple chips.


Limonene helps dissolve fat.  boosts your mood by increasing the levels of norepinephrine in your brain. Its zesty scent will energize you and help you to think positive thoughts on days when you are unsure of yourself. It aids memory and concentration. 


Lemon essential oil supports detoxification, helping to cleanse toxins that build up inside the body. Detoxing will rejuvenate your body, increase your energy levels and improve fat digestion. Plus, it supports lymphatic drainage, ridding the body of wastes that can be leading to inflammation and other health issues that hinder your ability to lose weight. 

  1. 3-4 drops in diffuser infuses the soul with energy, confidence and alertness.
  2. Add Lemon oil to your water for a refreshing taste
  3. Adds a sweet taste to desserts, without the processed sugar or other alternative ingredients
  4. Add to homemade hummous or sauted asparagus. 


Smelling Peppermint oil may help curb appetite by affecting the area of the brain that makes you feel full.  In one study, people who smelled peppermint oil every two hours felt less hungry and consumed on average 2,800 fewer calories over a week (or around 300 a day) than their counterparts who didn’t smell it.  Also helps keep bloating and indigestion at bay. 


Peppermint oil is  ideal  for staying alert. Perfect to motivate you for an early morning workout or for afternoons when you feel drowsy instead of caffeine or sugar as a pick-me-up .

  1. Inhale before eating or add 1 or two drops to water and drink before your meal to help suppress appetite and support your other strategies to prevent  overeating.
  2. Place a drop of Peppermint oil on your fingertip and then rub on your temples to create a feeling of alertness and release tension (avoiding your eyes).
  3. Add to your massage oil and enjoy the  cooling feeling it brings to your skin. Works well with Lavender.
  4. Put a drop in the palm of your hand, rub in and cup round your nose and inhale to create alertness. Add lemon for focus.
  5. Add to water with strawberries or lime slices for a refreshing drink and for respiratory improvement in the summer.


The melatonin in Fennel temporarily curbs your appetite and helps reduce weight gain. It also promotes overall digestive health and increases energy levels. It helps you sleep better and longer  which naturally boosts your energy levels and keeps your leptin and ghrelin levels in balance for the next day. The chemical makeup of Fennel includes trans anethole, a monoterpene that is 13 times sweeter than table sugar.


The oil supports an individual in listening to the subtle messages of the body where there has been a loss of connection to the body’s natural signals due to emotional eating or severe dieting. Relieves monthly discomfort during menstruation. 

  1. Add 1-2 drops to water or green juice to curb sweet-tooth cravings
  2. Add 1-2 drops to a veggie capsule if you feel bloated to help with metabolic function
  3. Add to fractionated coconut oil and massage into your abdomen if you have overeaten
  4. Diffuse to improve productivity.


This citrusy, floral oil increases your energy levels and improves you mood, preventing problems like emotional eating and skipping workouts. Packed with polyphenols, which help to boost metabolism by burning sugar and fats, Bergamot promotes relaxation and calm in your endocrine system. 


Bergamot is the oil of self acceptance. 

  1. Slowly inhale when a food craving comes to relax and calm the mind and body, especially if you are under emotional stress. 
  2. Add a few drops to your morning bath or shower to boost your metabolism during the day. 
  3. Add to fractionated coconut oil for a calming massage
  4. Diffuse to promote a sense of self confidence when you feel frazzled, or a sense of inner peace when feelings of stress abound.
  5. Add a drop to Earl Grey tea to benefit from the limonenes.


Grapefruit is believed to reduce blood sugar and insulin levels. Limonene induced lipolysis, a process where fat and protein are deconstructed by the body and dissolved, directly supports metabolism and reduces appetite and body fat. It is also lifts energy and motivates you to continue with your goal. 


Grapefruit is the oil of honouring the body. 


It invites you  to break patterns of severe dieting, curb emotional eating and stop judging your body. If you never feel you look good enough, it supports  and encourages a positive relationship with your body based on love, tolerance and acceptance. It helps develop understanding that no amount of food can fill a hole in the heart - only love can do that.
